It isn’t just Ashanti’s top songs like “Foolish” and “Happy” that keep us mesmerized. It’s her nearly flawless body that keeps us in a trance. She hasn’t changed much since she stepped out onto the music scene in 2002, and that’s thanks to her dedication to keeping her body looking right by any means necessary!
Here are some of Ashanti’s diet and fitness secrets.
She’s not against a quick fix
Gimmicks aside, we’ve all heard of quick fixes in order to lose weight, and Ashanti isn’t opposed to going to extreme measures to get slim and trim. She told XO Necole that a “great colonic does wonders.”
A colonic is an infusion of water or liquid into the rectum to flush out the colon. If you’re not trying to go that route, you can try this fiber supplement that is guaranteed to clear you alllll the way out!
She’s not too strict
Ashanti spoke with People about important lessons she has learned on her journey to maintaining her figure. While she is committed to working out regularly, she also pays close attention to what she puts into her body. “To have balance, you have to eat clean and you have to work out,” she said. “You have to allow yourself at least two cheat days so that it doesn’t become too strict.”
She’s right! Reframe the diet outlook and choose to treat yourself every now and then!
Less meat, more weight loss
While chatting with Essence, Ashanti revealed that juices and eating a lot of greens are a huge part of her diet. Although she’s not a vegetarian, she also stated she doesn’t eat a lot of meat — also known as a flexitarian diet. You can read all about how less meat contributes to more weight loss in this book.
She also told Extra when she’s in the mood for meat, she eats an impossible burger. That’s one way to cure those cravings!
Exercise basics
She might look like she’s hitting up a boot camp every morning or burning calories in a high-end gym. However, Ashanti keeps things really basic when it comes to her cardio workout. She shared on her official Facebook page that about four to five days per week, she does two basic exercises: jump rope and crunches.
Don’t get confused, though. She also calls in the big guns from time to time. She told HipHollywood she has a trainer on the east coast and one of the west coast to help keep her physique nice and tight.
