The Real Housewives of Atlanta’s Porsha Williams was arrested on July 14, while protesting at the home of Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron on behalf of Breonna Taylor in Louisville, Kentucky. Sources say Daniel called the police to have protestors removed from his property.
Porsha’s fiancé, Dennis McKinley, shared the news of Porsha’s arrest via a video of the reality star being hauled off by police.
Her sister, Lauren Williams, took to her Instagram to write that Porsha took the Breonna Taylor case personally and was constantly sacrificing her time to make sure the police were held accountable for their actions. Lauren added: “This is her passion, this is her purpose. God please protect them.”
Breonna Taylor was in her apartment when she was shot and killed by Louisville police on March 13, 2020. An investigation is currently underway. Porsha has been on the frontlines of various protests, including in March when she and Lauren attended a “Say Her Name” peaceful rally in Atlanta in honor of Breonna and other Black women who have died.
When talking about the events of Tuesday’s protest, Lauren also noted that Porsha is following in the footsteps of their grandfather, the late Rev. Hosea Williams, who was a pioneer in the Civil Rights Movement alongside Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Another reality star was arrested
Porsha wasn’t the only one who was arrested. According to The Blast, 86 other protestors were also locked up, including Love & Hip Hop New York’s Yandy Smith and Women’s March co-organizer Tamika Mallory.
Porsha received support upon her release from jail
Porsha was initially held at the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections without bond. She was charged with felony intimidating a participant in a legal process, disorderly conduct in the second degree, and criminal trespassing.
According to CNN, she was released early Wednesday morning. She was greeted by a crowd of supporters, including Breeona Taylor’s mom, Tamika Palmer.
Porsha shared the below photo of herself and Mrs. Palmer with their fists raised. Her caption reads: “It was my pleasure! I love you and as always praying for you Ms.Tamika Palmer (Mother of #BreonnaTaylor ) Ps: Thank you for waiting on us to get out! It was heartwarming exiting and seeing your family🙏🏾 @untilfreedom it was an honor @tamikadmallory.”
