Halle Berry’s diet allows her to look like a shrine of beauty, poise, and grace. And her continued commitment to health and fitness has been a game-changer for her overall health.

Ms. Berry is proof that age ain’t nothing but a number. Since turning the big 5-0 on Aug. 14, 2016, the Losing Isaiah star has only gotten better and better as she continues to put the younger IG baddies to shame!

Since it’s the start of a new decade, and most of us are on our “new year, new me,” it’s only right we reveal how the talented actress stays in shape.  And BTW — you won’t find any health gimmicks or flat tummy teas here. Halle’s health and physical fitness regimen is all about hard work, dedication, and smart choices.

Here’s the low-down!

1. The keto diet is the key

Halle Berry’s diet comes courtesy of a  ketogenic lifestyle, otherwise known as the keto diet. In short, while visiting LIVE! With Kelly and Ryan, the entertainer said her food choices are all about “no sugar, no carbs; nothing white.”

According to an Instagram post, it’s clear Halle Berry’s diet is more about a lifestyle change.  Being diabetic most of her life, making smart and healthy food choices was something she has always taken “very seriously.” She also attributed the keto diet to slowing down her aging process. She added: “The keto lifestyle offers so many benefits such as weight loss, (moms that’s how we get rid of our baby bellies), appetite control, more energy and better mental performance.”

Not only that, Halle says the keto can “possibly reverse type 2 diabetes.” And if you want beautiful skin, physical endurance, and less acne (just like her), then this diet might be for you.

2. But first, water

Immediately after she wakes up, Halle Berry gets hydrated. Her personal trainer Peter Lee Thomas told Hollywood Life, she starts every day with an 8-12 ounce glass of water and a squeeze of lemon.

Halle then enjoys a cup of bulletproof coffee — a high-calorie coffee drink that is intended to replace breakfast. The drink consists of 2 cups coffee, 2 tablespoons of grass-fed, unsalted butter, and 1–2 tablespoons of MCT oil (Halle’s choice) or butter mixed in a blender to give it an extra boost.

3. An essential household item tones her core

Halle Berry and her trainer Peter Lee Thomas’s approach to exercise is quite simple: keep the body guessing. According to an Instagram post shared by the entertainer, she and her trainer use a regular degular’ towel to tone her core muscles. Halle wrote, in part, “This quick workout isolates various muscles in your abdomen to ignite your whole core no matter where you are.”

Considering Halle is now flexing on the ‘Gram and flaunting a rock-hard six-pack, that towel exercise is getting the job done!

4. It’s wine time

Let’s face it, one of the hardest vices to give up is alcohol. From posts on Instagram to interviews, like this one with ET Canada, Halle Berry makes it no secret she’s just like the rest of us. She LOVES her some red wine!

Fortunately, she’s able to indulge in a low-sugar and keto-friendly wine that aligns with her fitness goals. Health shared that the actress ops for sulfate-free, low-sugar, low-alcohol wine from Dry Farm Wines. Halle also a subscription and gets keto-approved wines delivered monthly.

5. She’s not turning down any snacks

With all the working out, fasting, and rules of the keto life, the biggest vice Halle has turned into a win is her love for snacking. According to Byrdie, one of her go-to, ket-approved snacks is prosciutto and arugula roll-ups.

During one of her Phit Talks chit-chat sessions (via Popsugar),  Halle said she loves both sweet and savory snacks, and snacking throughout the day keeps her full between meals.

6. Her first meal is at 2 p.m.

If you’re anything like most of us, you wake up ready to demolish the first meal of the day. But Halle Berry takes a different approach to fueling up before her day begins. She doesn’t actually sit down and eat her first meal until around 2 p.m., according to Women’s Health.  Why? Because she’s all about intermittent fasting.

According to a Harvard research study, intermittent fasting may slow down the aging process through weight loss, lower blood pressure and reduce cholesterol. This isn’t to say that fasting alone is the only way to receive these health benefits. Halle does acknowledge the importance of taking multivitamins and getting minerals in other ways, as well.

7. She’s a fan of tire workouts:

Halle Berry has introduced us to so many fitness regimens on her Instagram, including a March 2019 workout that included a giant tire. In her caption, she wrote that tire workouts not only brings out “the badass warrior that you are, they are the perfect way to work on both physique AND cardio.”

So where will you find a big ol’ tire lying around? Halle purchased hers from an old junkyard.

8. Not even a vacay can get in the way of her workouts

According to Halle Berry’s Instagram, even when she’s on vacation, she still sets a goal to workout daily. What does a goal look like for her? Glad you asked.  Halle does a 30-minute light run and leans on the basics to get her through, such as pullups, pushups, squats, kettlebell swings, as well as boxing and/or martial arts.

Halle says she does 5 sets of 50 reps each. WHEW! We’re tired just thinking about it!

9. She trains like an MMA fighter

In 2019, it was a goal of Halle Berry’s to learn a new martial art. It seems her aspiration was tied to a role in John Wick 3. With some help from her trainer, Peter Lee Thomas, Halle learned three-years worth of martial arts training in just six months, MSN reports. Peter told the outlet: “You better believing [sic] we are doing some boxing, some kickboxing, some Muay Thai.”

Peter also told USA Today the actress worked out five days a week for 60 to 90 minutes per workout. Three or four of those days, she practiced a form of Jiu-Jitsu.

This training not only elevated her health but is preparing her for another role in Bruised, where she will star as a disgraced MMA fighter. Booking roles where you can get paid to work out and get in the best shape of your life sounds like a win-win situation to us.

10. Hydrotherapy accelerates her metabolism

After her grueling workouts, the best way to heal is with hydrotherapy. Halle Berry shared on Instagram that she uses hydrotherapy to increase alertness and accelerate her metabolism.

So what exactly is hydrotherapy? It’s an alternative form of medicine, occupational therapy, and physiotherapy that uses water for pain relief and treatment. According to Very Well Health, the usage has a lot of other benefits, as well. Alternating between hot and cold water interchangeably helps remove toxins and activates sweat glands.

Perhaps the best part of Halle Berry’s diet and fitness journey is the practicality. Sure, she has enough money to hire the best trainers and chefs, but she also tends to keep it simple. Who knew a towel, a tire, and forgoing food until a certain time of day could sculpt our bodies to perfection?

Thanks for the tips, Halle!
