R&B group Intro consisted of lead singer Kenny Greene, Jeff Sanders, and Clinton “Buddy” Wilke. Their self-titled debut album was released on Atlantic Records in 1993, and included the lead single, “Come Inside.” A follow-up album, called New Life, was released two years later, but it wasn’t as successful. Buddy told YouKnowIGotSoul website that the album went in a different direction, and their fans weren’t feeling it.
They recorded a third album, but things at their label fell apart. They shopped the album around, but when they weren’t able to secure a new contract, they decided to go their separate ways
Kenny went on to write music for artists like Mary J. Blige and Will Smith. As his career continued to heat up, his health declined. During a 2001 hospital stay, he told Sister2Sister Magazine that he had AIDS, and he warned others to protect themselves.
Unfortunately, in October 2001, which was one month after his interview, he passed away at the age of 32.
Over the years, Buddy and Jeff have added other members to the group, but they’ve never captured Intro’s original essence. In May 2022, they teamed up with Eric Roberson for the song “All I Want,” which also includes Kenny’s vocals.
